Fans of the iconic brand in city say they are bowled over by the new models

Fifteen die-hard Jawa motorcycle enthusiasts from Bengaluru travelled all the way to Mumbai to grace the launch of the three Jawa motorcycleson Thursday. The booking for the new bikes has begun online Thursday and they will be available to customers from December 7.

These Jawa enthusiasts, who are all members of the Bangalore Jawa Yezdi Motorcycle Club, say they are mightily impressed with the three newly launched versions — Jawa, Jawa Forty Two, and Perak.

“First of all, it is really heartening to know that Jawa motorcycles will be back on Indian roads after 23 long years. The three models look classy and we are very excited about the launch,” Lokesh JM told Bangalore Mirror from Mumbai. Lokesh, who has already booked a Jawa Forty Two, said that he chose the model for its classy look.

“All three models look great, but I chose Jawa Forty Two for its classy looks. Though I own two Harley Davidson Road Kings, I take them out only on special occasions like annual Jawa Day and for weekend breakfast rides. I can use Jawa Forty Two for my daily commute,” said Lokesh.

Jose Martin Franklin, secretary of Bangalore Jawa Yezdi Motorcycle Club, said the new models have been able to retain most of the aesthetics of vintage Jawas. “We were all looking forward to the launch and are happy to see that most of the aesthetics of the vintage Jawa has been retained,” he said.

He said that Jawa fans in the city have already booked models.

“I was told that more than 50 bookings have already been done with just one dealer. That apart, many online bookings have been made. I am eagerly waiting to test-ride all three models whenever they are available,” he said.

Lokesh said that one aspect the newer models couldn’t replicate is the sound of bike.

“Vintage Jawas had its unique sound stand out, but the new models could not replicate it. But overall, the three models are amazing,” he said.
