The Iconic Jawa Motorcycles Launched In India

Classic Legends Private Limited (CLPL) has launched the iconic Jawa Motorcycles in India after 42 years. Christened as Jawa and Jawa Forty Two, the duo is priced at Rs 1.64 lakh and Rs 1.55 lakh, respectively. The Jawa resembles the original Jawa to the T, including the maroon and golden paint job while on the other hand, the Forty Two is a special edition that celebrates the launch of Jawa in the country after a gap of 42 years.

However, the new Jawa bikes look like their predecessors but they are completely different. They are powered by a 293cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC motor which is derived from the Mahindra (CLPL’s parent group) Mojo. The engine delivers 27PS power and 28Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Both the Jawas get single channel ABS at the front and a drum brake at the rear. It also ffeatures iconic twin exhausts, under-tank mounted handlebar lock and 18-inch rims wrapped MRF Tyres. The Forty Two comes with blackened single pod cluster, forks, crankcase and mirrors, a flatter and wider handlebar that gives retro look to the bike.

Coming to the market rivalry, the bikes compete with Royal Enfield and other global models. Along with Jawa and Jawa Forty Two, the company also launched bobber model bike Perak at a price of Rs 1.89 lakh. It is equipped with a 334cc engine that delivers 30.4PS power and 31Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The company has stated that the Perak is a high-end bike and it will bring it into the mainstream market later. The new Perak is a single seater bike that comes with a unique matte black paint job with blacked out front forks, spoke wheels, frame, engine and exhaust.

Classic Legends Private Limited is subsidiary of the Mahindra Group which owns 60 per cent stake in the company.
