The All-New Jawa Motorcycles Have Just Been Launched

At an event in Mumbai a few hours ago, Classic Legends officially launched the all-new Jawa motorcycles, named Jawa, Forty-Two and Perak. There has been a huge amount of interest among motorcycle lovers in the run-up to this launch, as the Jawa (and its successor, the Yezdi) was one of the most beloved two-wheelers ever produced in India. The Jawa brand has never really died, with hundreds of dedicated owners forming clubs all over the country and keeping the name alive.

The Jawa and Forty-Two are powered by a 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, developing 27 bhp and 28 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bikes have ABS-equipped disc brakes up front and drum brakes at the rear (the Perak will likely have a disc brake at the back). The Perak – a factory-custom, Bobber-style bike – will have a slightly more powerful engine, and will be launched sometime after the first two models. Both the Jawa and Forty-Two are very retro in design, with the Jawa in particular looking quite similar to the original motorcycle. The Jawa comes in at Rs 1.55 lakh, while the Forty-Two and the Perak are priced at Rs 1.64 lakh and Rs 1.89 lakh respectively (all ex-showroom Delhi). A 105-showroom strong dealership network is on the cards all over India, with 64 almost ready as of now. Deliveries of the bikes will begin in early 2019, with bookings open today. We should have a detailed ride review for you in the first week of December, so stand by.
