Jawa Motorcycles has launched 3 new bikes in India

Jawa Motorcycles has launched 3 new bikes in India. The list includes a Classic Roadster, a modern classic roadster and a Bobber. The prices start off at Rs 1.55 Lakhs.

The legend has returned. This time with a modern touch. The much-awaited Jawa Motorcycles has been revived in India. 3 new Jawa bikes have been launched. Jawa comes in the design of a Classic Roadster, a modern classic roadster and a Bobber.

The classic Roadster is known as Jawa, the modern version of it is known as Jawa 42 and the Bobber is known as Jawa Perak. The Bobber is a factory custom motorcycle and will be launched later.

With prices starting at Rs 1.55 Lakhs, it squarely aims against the might of Royal Enfield motorcycles. The deliveries will begin in early January.

Variants and Price

  1. Jawa – Rs 1.64 Lakhs

  2. Jawa 42 – Rs 1.55 Lakhs

  3. Perak – Rs 1.89 Lakhs

Design

Jawa looks truest to the original Jawa. With the retro silhouette, it is the original Jawa with a modern touch. For starters, the dual twin-pea shooters, iconic Maroon colour, bulbous fuel tank with Jawa inscription, oodles of chrome highlights and the headlamp cowl are borrowed from the original Jawa.

Jawa 42 is basically the new Jawa with a modern touch. It gets a similar styling with minor differences. The colour is different, the single-pod instrument cluster, the handlebar style and mirror placement are different and also the headlamp is placed in a way that the modern bikes have.

Jawa Perak draws inspiration from the original Jawa Perak 250, which was not available globally. It looks like a proper Bobber with the single seat, long wheelbase, the traditional rear fender but without chrome highlights. Perak is a factory custom motorcycle and will be available later in the market.

Engine

Jawa and Jawa 42 use the newly developed BS-6 compliant 293cc liquid-cooled engine. The engine pumps out 27 BHP max. and 28 Nm of peak torque. The engine follows a flat torque curve, which will help in delivering generous amounts of torque at lower and mid ranges.

Jawa Perak uses a slightly high powered 334cc liquid cooled engine. This engine delivers 30 BHP and 31 Nm of peak torque.

For transmission purposes, it uses a constant mesh 6-speed gearbox.

Mileage

As per our expectations, Jawa Motorcycles will deliver a mileage figure of around 40 kmpl. The fuel capacity of Jawa is 14 litres.

Braking and Suspension

For braking purposes, Jawa and Jawa 42 use a 280mm disc brake up front and rear drum brakes. The bike pairs up with a single-channel ABS setup. Perak uses a 220mm disc brake at the rear as well.
