Jawa Motorcycle 300cc engine unveiled: The legend is really coming back!

We are starting to feel like it’s the season of comebacks.

Suzuki revived the legendary Katana and we knew that Mahindra and Mahindra group is also looking to revive some iconic brands under the Classic Legends brand. Recently it was revealed that they will also be bringing back Peugeot Motorcycles. They have already announced that Jawa is also going to make a comeback and the good news is that the Jawa Motorcycle 300cc engine has been unveiled. It has been developed in India and Italy and is set to offer more power than the Royal Enfields of the same class.

This new engine has been built from scratch and shares its bore and stroke with the existing Mahindra Mojo 300cc mill. The engine will be BS6 ready and will focus on long-term reliability. It looks to bring back the sound and the charm of the original Jawa in a rather modern avatar. As we mentioned the engine is a 300cc unit and will make around 27 Bhp and 28 Nm of torque. It has also been ensured that it has a nice & flat powerband like the original Jawa.

Classic Legends state that when they set out to build this engine, they wanted to keep it as close to the original as possible and if the pictures are as accurate as we assume, then they have more than succeeded. The parent company of Jawa Motorcycles, Mahindra-owned Classic legends, has announced that it will be powered by a 293 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor with dual overhead camshafts or DOHC technology. Power will be transferred to the wheels through a 6-speed gearbox.

We can expect the bike's styling too, to look back to the original for inspiration. We expect that Jawa will launch this bike by the end of this year, and is likely to debut in three variants with a whole list of accessories to help customize your motorcycle.

At the time of its launch, the new Jawa motorcycle will take on the Royal Enfield 350 range but will offer more power than the Bullet, Classic or Thunderbird 350. We bet Royal Enfield is watching developments at Jawa keenly since both brands will operate in pretty much similar space of retro and classic looking motorcycles. Jawa also enjoys the benefit of having a strong and old connect with Indian consumers, which should help it appeal to more buyers.
