Jawa makes a comeback with three bikes, check prices

The Jawa makes a comeback.

The Jawa makes a comeback. The bike-maker has released three models after creating a lot of build up to the November-15 launch, dubbed Motovember.

The models are the Jawa, Jawa 42 and the Perak.

All three bikes are using the same engine. While the Jawa is priced at Rs 1.64 lakh, the Jawa 42 is priced at Rs 1.55 lakh. The priciest model Perak is available at Rs 1.89 lakh. (All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

The model indeed looked like they are going to take on Royal Enfield line-up. Jawa has announced that it will be using a 293 cc engine in its bikes. The engine is good enough for 27 bhp of power and 28 Nm of torque.

The 293 cc engine will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox. There won't be a kick-start system for the engine that will be BS VI compliant.

The bike gets a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the back with a gas-charged canister at the bottom.

Braking is handled by a single disc brake at the front and a rear drum brake at the back.

The company has planned 105 dealers across cities to sell the motorcycles. Sixty-four dealerships and test rides will be available from early December.

There are three standard colours for the Jawa, the Jawa Forty Two is available in additional six colours.

Not long ago, Jawa bikes used to rule the Indian roads before Jawa India Ltd stopped production in 1966. The return of Jawa was made possible when Mahindra & Mahindra's subsidiary Classic Legends Pvt Ltd bought the licence from Jawa to launch bikes in India and Southeast Asia markets. The second innings of Jawa will be from Mahindra's Madhya Pradesh plant.
