Jawa & Jawa 42 Motorcycles’ TVC released

Jawa & Jawa 42 Motorcycles’ TVC released

Less than an hour after the launch of the Jawa and Jawa 42 retro-styled motorcycles

Less than an hour after the launch of the Jawa and Jawa 42 retro-styled motorcycles, Classic Legends – the company  that owns the Jawa brand in India – has put out an ad starring these motorcycles. Both motorcycles can be booked  right from today at the various Jawa dealerships across India. Deliveries will begin early next year.

The ad shows a man and a woman riding a Jawa and a Jawa 42 respectively. The ad also shows some rugged bits with the Jawa coming down a flight of stairs and the motorcycle kicking up some dust with donuts before finally riding into the sunset.

The Jawa 42 will be the brand’s entry level motorycycle, and has been priced at Rs. 1.55 lakhs. The other bike –  simple known as Jawa – is priced at Rs. 1.64 lakhs. Both motorcycles use the same engine and cycle parts. You can  test ride them from early next month at a Jawa dealership near you.

Both motorcycles are powered by a 293cc, single cylinder four stroke engine that has been heavily reworked. While the Mojo’s engine forms the basis of the new motor, many changes including boosted low end torque have been incorporated into this motor. It’s also Bharat Stage 6 emission norms ready well within the April 1st, 2020 deadline.

The short stroke engine operates on a 11.5:1 compression ratio, and is fuel injected. Liquid cooling is standard but  the design of the engine takes a retro direction in order to fit in the overall scheme of things. A four valve head  with twin overhead camshafts are other modern bits on this motor, which makes 27 Bhp-28 Nm. A 6 speed manual gearbox comes standard with this motor.

The major differences between the Jawa and Jawa 42 are stylistic. While the Jawa aims to turn the clock back and go  back to the 1970s and 1980s with its classic styling, the Jawa 42 is gets modern street-bike looks. Cycle parts  between both motorcycles are similar as well.

They ride on spoked wheels – a 19 incher up front and an 18 incher at  the rear. There’s a front disc brake and a rear drum brake with single channel ABS as standard. Both motorcycles use  telescopic front forks and a gas charged rear shock absorbers.

Jawa will launch a new motorcycle next year, called the Perak. It’s priced at Rs. 1.89 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi, and gets bobber styling with a unique, single floating seat design. The bike gets monoshock suspension, and also a more powerful, 334cc big bore engine with 31 Bhp-30 Nm on tap. The Perak will be the range topping Jawa sold here.
