The company has launched 3 new motorcycles – Jawa, Jawa 42 and Jawa Perak – in the country. While the Jawa and Jawa 42 will first go on sale, the Jawa Perak factory-fitted custom model will arrive on a later stage. In this article, we talk about the Jawa 42/ Forty two. The Forty Two is the most affordable Jawa bike in India, priced at Rs 1.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The motorcycle is powered by all-new 293cc, single-cylinder engine that also powers the Jawa Classic. On the other hand, the Perak is custom motorcycle powered by a 334cc engine. The 42 is basically the Scrambler version of the Jawa Classic, featuring more aggressive and modern design.
The new Forty Two is the most affordable Jawa in India. It is available at an introductory price of Rs 1.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bookings for the new motorcycle have already been commenced.
Based on the Double cradle chassis, the new Jawa bike gets an all-new 293cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC engine. This engine is capable of producing 27bhp of power and 28Nm of torque. Classic Legends claim that this engine features dual overhead camshaft and fuel injection system. It is claimed to offer generous mid-range and a flat torque curve. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. The company claims that the new Jawa engine has been designed to deliver the exhaust note similar to the original Jawa motorcycles. The new powertrain will meet the upcoming BSVI emission norms.
The company hasn’t revealed the fuel efficiency of this new motorcycle. Featuring 293cc engine, the motorcycle should return close to 35kmpl.
The new motorcycle features a conventional telescopic front forks and twin hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. For braking, the bike gets 280mm front disc with floating caliper and 153mm drum brake at the rear. The vehicle also gets single-channel ABS as standard.
Built on the new double cradle frame, the new Jawa 42 rides on 18-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel shod with 90/90 and 120/80 section tyres, respectively. The bike has a wheelbase of 1369mm, while the seat height stands at 765mm. It comes with a fuel tank of 14-litres.
The new Forty Two is available in six color options – Glossy Metallic Red, Glossy Dark Blue, Matt Moss Green, Matt Pastel Blue, Matt Pastel Light Green and Matt Blue.
The company claims that the Jawa 42 is a toned, muscled, sporty, aggressive version of a Classic. This motorcycle gets several retro-styled features along with modern tech. The bike gets round-shaped headlamp, which is slightly smaller in size compared to the Classic model. The cylindrical fuel tank is also offered in this model, but it misses out on chrome treatment, The chrome treatment can be seen on the engine casing, rear shock absorbers and exhaust pipe. The bike also gets blacked out treatment on the several parts. It features flat handlebar, single seat with riders comfort on priority, digital instrument console, etc. The bike gets flared rear mudguard with pinstrips.
